You may have seen in our newsletters, that we are delighted to announce that our school is taking part in the Elmer’s Big Parade Suffolk 2019, by sponsoring a Young Elmer Sculpture.
Our ‘blank’ sculpture will arrive in school in January 2019 and will be creatively transformed into a work of art by a team of children and staff. Our Elmer, will then begin his summer of adventures, starting with the Suffolk Show 2019 and will then hide with all the other sculptures across Ipswich, in the town centre and around the Waterfront, waiting for you to find them.
Elmer will finally pack his trunk and leave the Big Parade, arriving back to Trimley Primary School in October, where he will stay with all his friends.
As well as the exciting opportunity to hunt for Elmer and his friends within the trail around Ipswich, there are lots of learning opportunities that will be incorporated within the classrooms promoting positive messages about inclusivity, courage and friendship.
St Elizabeth’s Hospice costs £10.5m a year to run and they rely on the generosity of local businesses, individuals and organisations to meet the majority of these costs. Elmer’s Big Parade will make a real difference in helping them to continue to provide local Hospice care for local people free of charge.
To reach our school fundraising target of £750, we will be holding various fund raising events as part of the Elmer’s Big Parade and we hope you will continue to support us to raise funds for such a worthy charity. Keep a look out for further information.
Children, we now need your help to begin this adventure. Our very own ‘Elmer’ needs a new Trimley Name and we would love to hear your suggestions. He also needs some ‘clothes’ and we are inviting you to share with us your design ideas. We are looking for creative ideas, which capture the Trimley theme. Think about our school, our logo, our learning themes, your favourite books, Elmer’s friends…. be as creative as you like! How can we use these ideas to decorate our sculpture?
Templates have already been sent home for you to draw your design on and we look forward to receiving these at school by 7th December. In order to kick-start our fundraising, we are suggesting a voluntary contribution of 50p is submitted with your design idea, should you wish.
