At Trimley St Mary Primary School our PE Coordinator is Miss Thurlow. If you have any queries or questions please see Miss Thurlow.
Our school PE kit is white t’shirts and black or navy shorts with trainers or plimsolls. In the colder weather please can children wear dark tracksuit bottoms (navy or black) and either a school sweatshirts or plain black/ navy sweatshirt/hoodie. Football strips , logos, patterned or brightly coloured fashion clothing is not permitted.
After school clubs
We are keen to offer a range of clubs after school to allow children to experience a broad range of sports and activities. These will be changed each term. Clubs are ran by specialist Sports Teachers.
Entry into after-school clubs is via Parentmail. Clubs are ran from 3:30pm until 4:15pm
At Trimley St Mary we like to try to keep active and healthy. We promote active lunchtimes for our children to encourage children to engage in physical activity regularly and provide children with a broad range of sports and activities.
Earrings and Jewellery
Earrings – Please note that the official advice given with regards to jewellery, including earrings, is that it should be removed for all PE based activities. In cases where earrings cannot be removed then they should be a flat stud. They should also be taped in a sufficient manner in order to protect the wearer in the case of an accidental blow which could cause the stud penetrating the bone behind the ear. Taping should be done by pupils where possible or at home before the lesson for younger pupils. Please see http://www.afpe.org.uk/physical-education/wp-content/uploads/HSUpdate_Dec17.pdf for current advice we are asked to adhere to.
Personal challenges. Each term children will have the opportunity to take part in a personal challenge. They will be able to repeat the same challenges each term. This allows the children to compete against themselves and strive to better their own performances. The challenges will be: howler throw, standing long jump, agility test and Star Jumps. A mid distance stamina test will also be introduced in the Spring and Summer Term. It is entirely optional as to whether the children wish to participate, however they will be encouraged to take part in any challenge they have started.
Personal Challenge – Standing Long Jump
Our first personal challenge was the standing long jump. Well done to everyone who took part and performed some impressive jumps. It was lovely to see the support and encouragement given to all pupils by others as jumps were performed.
